Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 14 March to 27 March 2024. The inspection was prompted due to concerns received about the care and treatment of people living at the service. The overall rating for this service is ‘requires improvement’. The previous overall rating for this service was ‘good’. This means that the service now has declined. We found two breaches of the legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment and governance. Staff did not consistently provide care and support that was safe and in line with peoples agreed plans. Staff did not always assess risks to people's health and safety or mitigate them where identified. People did not always have care plans which were up to date or contained sufficient detail. Governance systems and audits were not effective in identifying or addressing areas for improvement. However, people were supported to have choice and control and could give feedback on their care, and staff were kind to the people they supported. In instances where CQC have decided to take civil or criminal enforcement action against a provider, we will publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
People's experience of this service
People and their relatives told us they were happy with the care they received. They felt staff listened to them and were kind and caring. People told us ‘They [staff] are lovely.' And ‘They listen to you, they come and show concern.’ People felt told us the environment was clean and safe. Feedback about staffing levels was mixed, some people told us there were enough staff, but some people felt that staff were busy and did not have enough time. People told us they were happy with the activities that were on offer within the home, but some would like additional activities to choose from. While the people we spoke to expressed that they were generally happy with their care, our assessment found care did not always meet the expected standards.
