Updated 6 June 2024
Date of assessment 11 June to 8 July 2024. Burnham lodge is a nursing home providing care to 60 people. The service provides support to older people, some of whom may be living with dementia. At the time of this assessment there were 34 people living at the service. The assessment was carried out in response to concerns about the service. At our last inspection we found breaches of the regulations in relation to safe care and treatment and notification of other incidents. At this assessment we found continued breaches of those regulations and new breaches in relation to fit and proper persons employed, safeguarding service users from abuse, staffing and good governance. People were not safeguarded and risks to them were not identified and mitigated. Safe medicine practices were not promoted. Staff were not suitably trained for their roles and recruitment practices were not in line with the providers policy. Records were not always maintained as expected and governance systems were not effective in identifying or addressing areas for improvement. The service failed to notify us of incidents which they are required to. In instances where CQC have decided to take civil or criminal enforcement action against a provider, we will publish this information on our website after any representations and/ or appeals have been concluded.
