Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 11 December 2024. The service is a residential care home providing support to older and younger adults, people with physical disabilities and people living with dementia and mental health conditions. At the time of this assessment there were 18 people living in the service. At our last inspection we found improvement was needed and the service was in breach of legal regulation in relation to premises and equipment. At this inspection we found improvements had been made, and the service was no longer in breach of legal regulation. The provider had a good learning culture and people could raise concerns. Managers investigated incidents thoroughly. People were protected and kept safe. The premises and equipment met people’s needs, were clean and well-maintained and any risks mitigated. There were enough staff, and managers made sure staff received training and support to maintain high-quality care. Staff managed medicines well and ensured these were regularly reviewed so they remained effective. People had enough to eat and drink to stay healthy. Staff worked with all agencies involved in people’s care to maintain their well being and achieve the best possible outcomes. Staff made sure people understood and consented to their care. People were treated with kindness, respect and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity, treated them as individuals and supported their preferences. Staff responded to people in a timely way. Managers and staff had a shared vision of quality, person centred care for each person. Staff described a supportive culture where diversity was respected and supported and there was clear guidance around roles and responsibilities. The provider and management team maintained good oversight of the service overall. We found improvements were needed to the monitoring of people’s fluid charts and accessibility to the gardens. We received assurances the provider was addressing these following our site visit.
