During a routine inspection
Without exception, people spoke very positively of the care and support received, saying that staff were always polite and respectful and that they were kept well informed about the service provided. We were told that the service was, 'Very friendly and the staff are lovely'. One person told us, 'I am very satisfied, I am more than satisfied, they are always punctual and never let us down and the staff are very kind and helpful'. It was evident that staff had developed a warm and comfortable relationship with the people they supported and this had greatly contributed to the general satisfaction with the service.
The people we spoke with were all very satisfied with the individualised service provided by Sunnyfield Support Services. We were told by a close relative of a person being supported, that staff were always on time, they always did what they were meant to be doing and that, 'I have a really good relationship with them, they are the best thing since sliced bread, I cannot complain one little bit, they have been so good'. We were also told that there was a good level of staff consistency, with people knowing which staff were supporting them.
The people we spoke with told us that they knew who to speak with if they had any worries or concerns. Contact details of the agency, plus details of how to make a complaint are given to each person using the service.
Without exception, all people being supported by the service and the relatives we spoke with were very complementary about the qualities of the support staff team. A person told us, "The staff are great'. A relative said, 'I am really pleased, I never have to worry. I have peace of mind I know he is in safe hands. The staff care for you and are always on top of the job'. Another person commented, 'They are really good and will do anything they can to help us. The staff are very nice and kind and they do care'.
A recently appointed member of staff confirmed that a thorough process had taken place prior to her being offered employment at the home.
The people that we spoke with confirmed that they were asked if they were satisfied with the support staff and the service provided. 'Comments included, 'My son had a really good introduction, I was really pleased. A person from the office came to see us a few times before the service started and she still visits regularly to see if everything is alright and we are happy with everything'. Another relative said, 'We get a two forms/questionnaires, one for me and an easy read one for *****. We get these every six or twelve months and they ring us up on a regular basis as well'.
