During a routine inspection
Patients told us they had been involved in discussions about their treatment including different options such as receiving dialysis at home and transplantation. The manager told us further information was also available once people had started dialysis at the unit on a range of issues including alternative forms of dialysis; and on diet and nutrition.
During the inspection we observed care and treatment being delivered. The staff engaged positively with the patients they were supporting and chatted to people as they delivered the care. We observed staff wearing personal protective equipment and changing it and washing their hands between patients. This showed staff undertook practices to minimise the spread of infection.
