During a routine inspection
We spoke with seven people who used the service, observed care delivery and checked care plans. We spoke with the manager and home owner (provider), two care staff and the housekeeper.
Three people who used the service were able to tell us they were happy and felt safe at Bluebell Lodge. All of these people told us they were happy with the care they received. One person said, "I find the staff here to be marvellous." Another person told us, "They (staff) are really helpful, I feel safe here."
We saw feedback letters from relatives reflecting that staff showed them kindness, communicated changes quickly and 'always have time to chat to relatives'.
We found that people who used the service were safe because their individual needs were assessed regularly and a care plan was in place that ensured staff knew how to manage the risks identified. This ensured people experienced effective, safe and appropriate care.
We found the service was well managed. We observed how people who used the service were supported by a caring and knowledgeable staff team because the manager and the provider had ensured the staff were properly trained and supervised. They had ensured that there were systems in place to minimise infection and provide a clean, safe and hygienic environment.
People who used the service received their medicines safely by staff that were trained to administer medicines safely.
