Equity in experiences and outcomes
Relatives we spoke with told us the staff at the service worked consistently to ensure people were able to access external health services as quickly as they could. One relative told us they had no concerns or complaints regarding the service supporting their family member when trying to access external agencies. But some of these services were not very prompt. They emphasised the staff at the service worked hard to get their family member the support they needed from the external services. Another relative told us their family member was under the care of a community physiotherapist. They said, “[Name] does exercises in the bath.” They went on to say there had been meetings with clinical specialists and said, “We bring in a specialist when we need one, the registered manager will bring one in.”
Staff we spoke with were happy with the way people were supported to access external health professionals for support with their care. The registered manager told us they worked closely with the Lincolnshire hub team that allowed them to get access to physiotherapist, speech and language therapy team, the dietician and the community psychiatric team.
People’s care records showed they had been supported by the service to access the different areas of health care they needed in a timely way. For example, one person suffered from a recurring minor health issue. The staff and the person’s family had worked with the GP surgery to develop a protocol to allow them to have a repeat prescription of the medicine when needed which alleviated the condition.
