Our view of the service
Dunwood Manor Nursing Home is a ‘care home’ providing personal and nursing care for up to 55 older people, some who live with dementia. Accommodation is arranged over two floors. At the time of our inspection 38 people lived at the home. We conducted our on-site assessment on 14 December 2023. We looked at 6 quality statements; Safeguarding; Involving people to manage risks: Safe and effective staffing; Assessing needs; Support people to live healthier lives and Governance and assurance. Staff had received training in safeguarding adults and knew how to identify, prevent, and report abuse. Staff were knowledgeable about people and the risk associated with their care. We were satisfied there were sufficient numbers of suitably skilled staff available to meet people’s needs. The provider had arrangements in place for assessing and reviewing people’s needs. Staff were knowledgeable about people needs and knew how to support them to live healthier lives. There were systems in place to monitor and improve the quality of the service provided. However, they did not always pick up concerns we found for example repositioning records.
