People living in the supported houses said they were happy with the care and support they were receiving and that the staff were good and helpful. Adding that staff encouraged them to choose things they enjoyed and to try out new activities. One person said how much he enjoyed cycling around the local area with staff. Another person said he enjoyed visiting the local pub disco with staff. Other people said they enjoyed visiting the gym. One person said 'The staff and my family have helped me move into my house and get it looking how I want it'. He said how much he enjoyed living in his own home and that the staff were very helpful and let him choose all the things he wanted for his home.People said staff supported them well. One person told us about the BBQ's they hold in their garden when the weather is nice. Another person said how they enjoyed visits to the local pub. One person living in the supported houses said, 'The staff are here to help me when I want them, not all the time ' I don't need them all the time, but when I need help, they are there. People also told us about how staff were going to support them to try out taster days at college with staff support. One person said, 'I am looking forward to it'.
One person living in the supported houses said, 'The staff are great here, they really look after you, make sure everything is ok and that you are happy.' Another person said, 'I like the staff who work with me, they are good.'
Staff spoken to said United Response were a good company to work for and recruitment was robust. A member of staff said 'People using the service are involved in interviewing new staff which is as it should be'.
People living in the supported houses said they were happy with the staff who supported them. One person said, 'All the staff here are good, they will always help us.' Another person said, 'The staff do what I ask them, we go out and have fun.'
People living in the supported houses spoken to said that they have a small group of staff supporting them who they know well and are comfortable with. Only in unusual circumstances would they have staff they did not know very well.
Staff spoken to said that United Response as an organisation were people focussed, with good values and made sure staffing was satisfactory.
Staff said that they receive excellent training. One member of staff said, 'I can't fault the training we receive'. Another member of staff said, 'We have regular supervision and excellent support.'
