People living at The Elms were happy with the care provided. People felt that their views influenced the running of the home and their own care. People felt involved in the care planning process and said that their care plans were reflective of their needs. One person said 'I am happy with my care plan and think that I get everything in it.'People said that they were able to make choices about their day to day lives. People are able to decide what time they got up, when they went to bed and how they spent their time. Comments included 'You can keep your own routines and they fit around you' and 'You can more or less do what you like.' Some people said that they liked to get up very early and others said that they preferred to lie in.
Everyone asked was happy with the food served in the home. People said that there was always plenty to eat and that they had a choice of food at every meal.
People said that if they were unhappy with any aspect of their care they would be comfortable to speak with a member of staff. All were confident that any issues raised would be dealt with. One person said 'I would complain if I needed to and it would be sorted.'
People generally thought that there were enough staff at the home and all said that any requests for assistance were responded to promptly. During our visit there were many complimentary remarks about the staff. People described staff as 'lovely' and 'Superb.' Other comments included 'Staff are very good and always polite' and 'Staff are nice they will do anything for you.'
People said that the building itself was accessible and that furniture was comfortable.
