Our view of the service

SO Aesthetics is an independent doctor led service providing cosmetic and medical treatments to people. Patients pay privately for their care and treatment at this service as no NHS funded treatments are provided. Most of their services are provided from a self-contained building based in Worcester. They also provide a small number of treatments from a rented clinic room in a GP surgery in Bewdley. The practice is registered with the Care Quality Commission under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 to provide the following regulated activities, treatment of disease, disorder or injury, surgical procedures, caring for adults over 65 years and caring for adults under 65 years. They are also registered to provide services in slimming clinics, but this is not a service they offer. Aesthetic procedures such as anti-wrinkle injections are not regulated by CQC where they are not used to treat a diagnosed condition. Therefore, on this assessment we only reviewed information where these procedures were used to treat a specific diagnosed medical condition. These are treatment for bruxism (teeth grinding), hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), migraine, removal of skin lesions, and injections for hay fever and knee conditions. The service has a registered manager who also worked as a GP and employed a range of skilled staff including an independent nurse prescriber and reception staff. SO Aesthetics was registered with CQC in March 2022. This is their first assessment since they registered, and they have no previous rating. We carried out an announced assessment of all quality statements for safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led during our assessment.
