During a routine inspection

Cedar House is an extra care housing provision for people aged 55 years and over. At the time of our inspection ten people received a service which included personal care.

During our inspection we met and spoke with five people who used the service, three care workers and a senior staff member. We spoke with the manager following our inspection and requested that some additional information was sent to us.

All the people we spoke with told us they were happy living at Cedar House and praised the staff that supported them. One person told us, "The staff are very good I cannot fault them. They help support me so I can continue to do things for myself". Another person told us, "The staff are very good".

People told us they felt safe and staff were aware of their responsibility to protect people from the risk of abuse.

Arrangements in place did not ensure people were protected from the risks associated with the unsafe management of medicines.

Satisfactory recruitment procedures ensured that people were protected from the risk of unsuitable staff being employed.

There were systems in place to monitor the quality of the service. However, these had not always been effective and timely in identifying shortfalls in the service.
