During a routine inspection
We walked around the home and saw that all areas were clean and tidy. We saw that sanitising hand gels were placed around the building for people to use. Staff told us they had completed infection control training. Visitors we spoke with told us the home was always clean. Comments included: "What I liked about here was there is no smell it is always fresh and clean." "X's room is nice and clean."
We looked at a sample of staff recruitment files and saw that appropriate safety checks had been carried out before staff started work. This was to make sure applicants were safe to work with vulnerable people. We spoke with staff who confirmed that they had an interview with the manager and had to provide references and an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) disclosure before they started work.
We saw that regular audits of management systems were carried out on a weekly or monthly basis. We saw that fire equipment and alarms were checked and tested at regular intervals. Moving and handling equipment was well maintained and we saw that there were service contracts in place.
