During a routine inspection
There were three people who currently lived at the home and they had all complex needs. We observed interaction between them and staff on duty and it appeared that people living there were happy and content and they were given the support they needed.
We asked staff what it was like working at Salisbury Park and one of the support workers we spoke with told us:
'(My) honest opinion'I get so much out of doing good for the lads'I love seeing them doing things'.
We spoke to two social workers by telephone and they told us they had advised the provider to ensure an advocate was appointed for each of the three people who used the service particularly in view of the changes to the service. One of the social workers we spoke with told us they had visited earlier this year and raised concerns regarding record keeping.
The records we looked at were incomplete they did not include all relevant information regarding what support each person needed.
We also spoke to a recently appointed advocate by telephone and they told us the financial records they saw appeared incomplete.
On the day we visited we found concerns relating to cleanliness and infection control for example there was nowhere to wash and dry your hands and no disposable hand towels in either bathroom.

During a routine inspection
The three residents had just returned from a holiday and although they weren't able to tell us about it themselves, support staff explained that they had all enjoyed themselves very much.
Whilst the residents were not able to tell us about their experiences of living at the home, we saw they appeared very relaxed and content in their surroundings. Residents interacted happily with their support workers and were clearly comfortable in their presence.
We saw residents moving about their home freely, at times choosing to spend time in the lounge or making their way to their own bedrooms.
We also noted that the residents appeared clean, very well groomed and smartly dressed. This indicated that they received a good level of support with their personal care needs.
