During a routine inspection
We met everyone living at The Maples throughout the day. Most people have non verbal signs of communication so we gathered further information and opinions about the home from their next of kin's and representatives.
Relatives told us they were very happy with the care and support provided by the staff at the Maples.
Relatives told us they had a lot of concerns about the current situation were they were told the home was closing on the first of June 2011. They didn't feel it was in their relative's best interests to be moved. They told us that they were worried about the future and they didn't understand why they had to be moved especially from the stability of the home they had lived in for the last 15 years and the stability of the staff who understood and supported them with their needs. Relatives told us they did not know what was going on and didn't know what was being done about the situation.
We had also contacted the local authority contracts and monitoring team for Cheshire West and Chester before we visited the service. They had no issues of concern to report.
