During an inspection in response to concerns
We spoke with three people who live at Berry Hill Care Home. We were told that: 'I'm very happy here, the staff are very kind, and it's very comfortable.' 'I can't fault the staff, they are really very good, and they work really hard. I'm more than happy here.' 'I'm quite satisfied.' As we went around the home we observed the staff talking with people who live at the home. We saw that conversations were polite, friendly and respectful. We asked people about activities, and we were told: 'There's a lot going on.' 'I don't join in with everything, but it's there if I want it.' 'We have some marvellous entertainment, singing and shows, really good.'
All three people told us that they were very happy with the care that they were receiving. All three spoke in a positive way about the staff with comments such as: 'The staff really look after me well.' 'I can't complain about the care or the staff, they are very good at doing their jobs.' 'Nothing is too much trouble, the staff really do look after us.'
We asked each person if they felt safe, and they all said that they did.
We asked whether or not there were enough staff. Everyone we spoke to said that they thought there were enough staff.
Observations during our visit to the care home did not raise any concerns about staffing levels, and there was evidence of social activities which showed that there was more than just basic care happening in the home.
