Our view of the service

Homewards Limited – 20 Leonard Road provides accommodation with personal care for up to three people with a learning disability and autistic people. At the time of this inspection there were two people using the service. This assessment was undertaken following CQC’s new approach: https://www.cqc.org.uk/assessment This is our first assessment of the service using the new approach. We looked at 4 key question areas (safe, effective, caring and responsive) and 7 quality statements within those key questions: safeguarding, involving people to manage risks, safe and effective staffing, assessing needs, consent to care and treatment, independence, choice and control, and equity in experiences and outcomes. We began our off site assessment activity on 15 February 2024 and ended on 11 March 2024. As part of that, on-site assessment was carried out on 20 February 2024. The assessment was carried out by 1 inspector and 1 assessor. We spoke with the registered manager, deputy manager, 2 staff, 2 people who used the service, 1 relative, an advocate and a health professional. In all the areas we assessed we found people experienced good outcomes and were protected from the risks of potential harm or abuse. The home followed the principles of Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture. The home was accessible for people living there and staff actively encouraged people to life a fulfilling life free from restriction and discrimination. Staff received training appropriate to their role which included specific training support for people with a learning disability and autistic people.
