During a routine inspection
We talked with five people and five relatives across both floors about their experiences of the care and support being provided. We found comments from people on the ground floor were more positive than those on the first floor where all people required nursing support. People on the first floor felt that staff were more task orientated and had little time to talk with them. Comments included: 'I wish staff would talk to us, they are in and out'. 'I am looked after alright' Staff come in and do what they have to do, staff don't have time to talk'.
Staff told us that people did receive the care they needed but sometimes the records were not always completed as they should due to them being rushed to complete all their duties. We could not be sure from viewing some records that people were being repositioned in bed as often as they should or that some people were being given fluids as often as they should.
On the ground floor comments included: 'I am quite happy, staff all help me as much as they can. They are very kind to me. Staff help me to get washed and dressed. 'I am quite happy I try not to be a nuisance'.
People told us they felt comfortable in raising any concerns with staff or the manager if needed. Comments included: 'Karen (manager) she will do all in her power to sort problems out'. 'Staff are approachable without any exception at all'.
There were many compliments about the staff that work at the home including 'I am just so glad I got this place, staff are fabulous they can't do enough for you'.
