Our view of the service
Seaview Nursing Home provides nursing and personal care for up to 91 people with nursing needs, such as Parkinson’s, diabetes, and heart failure, many of whom were also living with dementia. The assessment was completed between 7 March 2024 and 22 April 2024 . Site visits to gather people’s experience and to observe care practices were carried out on 2 and 5 April 2024. We assessed 11 quality statements. At the last inspection there had been breaches of regulations, and during this assessment we found there had been sufficient improvements and the service was no longer in breach. However, the service needs to sustain these improvements and ensure they are truly embedded. We found that there had been some improvements to staffing arrangements, however there remained some gaps in areas such as activities where more staff were needed to provide engagement and stimulation for people in their individual areas of interest.
People's experience of this service
People and their families told us staff treated individuals fairly and with kindness and respect. People felt that staff did not have enough time to spend with them socially, but when they called for support, staff would come as quickly as they could. People and families told us they were involved in planning of care and support, and included in decision making. Family members said they were kept up to date and well informed by the management team and said they felt able to ask questions or raise concerns easily. Some people and their relatives commented on the environment, telling us they felt the environment needed redecorating in some areas and some general repair.
