During a routine inspection
We found that there were nine people in residence at the time of the inspection. We spoke with four people who used the service, four relatives and three staff.
People who used the service told us how much they enjoyed staying at the unit. One person we spoke with said: 'This is a fantastic service here. The staff are very professional and caring'. A relative told us: 'It is quite a distance from where we live but we would not want our (relative) to be anywhere else. The care is first class. Our (relative) can do so much more since being in here'.
People were involved in and gave their consent to the care and treatment they received. We found that people's needs were assessed. This meant that staff made sure that they could meet people's needs before they moved to the Great Wyrley Community Support Unit.
We checked care plans and found that care needs and risk assessments were reviewed regularly. This meant that people received care and support that met their current needs.
People were protected from abuse and staff understood the signs of abuse and how to report any suspicions of abuse.
We found that the staff were trained and supervised to meet the needs of the people who used the service.
There were robust systems in place to monitor and assess the quality of the service provided.
