During a routine inspection
Staff understood the importance of ascertaining capacity and getting a person's permission before delivering care. People who use the service were involved in developing their care plan and person centred documentation.
All people's risk assessments and care plans were up to date. Person centred documentation was regularly updated and in place for all residents. This consisted of a book entitled 'All About Me' and another document entitled 'Pen portrait' which was a summary of the person's needs and personality.
People were cared for in a clean, hygienic environment by staff who had been through a recruitment process and subjected to the appropriate pre-employment checks. People who use the service were usually involved in the interview process. Staff had received training on infection control and there was a policy and procedure in place on infection control and food hygiene.
There was a complaints policy in place and people were given information and assistance in making a complaint.
