During a routine inspection
The four people we met who lived at Theobald House had learning disabilities and limited communication. We were therefore not able to hear their views directly, but we talked with the relative of one person and extensively with the support staff. We also observed the care and support given to people.
We looked at care plans, medication and personal financial records. We found that the support plans and risk assessments were person centred and the information contained reflected well the person that staff and a relative described. We saw care and support delivered with patience and warmth by support staff. We found the financial records and other records kept for the purpose of running the home to be in order.
We asked staff about working with people who lived at Theobald House and a member of the support team said "people we work with are amazing and they give so much back."
We have asked the service to make some improvements around making assessments for people's capacity to consent to their care, and in supporting and mentoring staff. We require the service to make improvements to their medication records and those used if a person is admitted to hospital.
