People we spoke with who used Mears Care Wigan said, in the main, that they were happy and content with the service provided.People mostly told us that they were kept informed about the staff who were to provide support and that visits were never missed. People also liked the staff and found them competent at their job.
Comments included:
'They do a good job I've no grumbles.'
'They're very nice, I seem to have the same girls all the time and they're helpful."
People said that they were provided with information about how to contact the main office.
We were told:
'I have a number to contact the office.'
People who had not raised concerns had the impression that they would be listened to if the situation arose.
Comments included:
'I can't remember a spot check but if I had a query I would get on the phone and tell them.'
People also said that at times senior staff visited them and checked on the service provided.
Although comments about Mears Care Wigan were overwhelmingly complimentary we also identified, from what we were told, significant concerns in relation to ensuring that people's choices are respected and their dignity always maintained.
