Condition of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity
Condition 1
The registered provider must implement an effective audit and monitoring system to ensure that all care staff:
1. Follow the assessed dietary needs, for all service users. Ensuring SaLT guidance is followed, and the correct foods and consistency are provided due to any identified or known risk of choking.
2. Follow the agreed guidelines / care plans for the administration of medication. Specifically:
a. The administration of ‘as required medications’ for behaviors that may challenge to prevent, potential over use.
b. The correct use of medications for diabetes management and constipation.
3. Have access to and are guided by up to date, accurate and holistic care plans which reflect service users’ current needs. Care plans must detail how staff should support, respond, reduce risk of harm or injury for each service user with:
a. Complex care needs such as behaviours that may challenge.
b. Specific health conditions such as epilepsy and diabetes
c. Including responding to incidents that are of a safeguarding nature, in line with the Registered Providers safeguarding policy and protocol.
4. Have been appropriately recruited and that individual staff files include a full employment history that has been checked and verified. This includes ensuring that gaps in employment have been discussed with the care staff member and documented. Suitable references have been obtained from all employers and criminal convictions have been risk assessed.
5. Are deployed to provide personal care to service users where they have been assessed as having the skills, knowledge, training and competence to support service users in line with best practice with their specific and individual care needs.
Condition 2
Fourteen days after this notice takes effect and then every first Monday of the calendar month thereafter, the Registered Provider must have sent to the Commission a written report summarising the findings of the audits referred to in condition
1. The report must detail the timescales for improvements, who will be responsible for them and what the quality assurance arrangements will be going forward to ensure that the agreed actions are completed and sustained.
