Requires improvement

Updated 8 May 2024

Date of assessment 8 May 2024 to 28 June 2024. The assessment included site visits to the home on 12 June and 28 June 2024. Woodleigh Rest Home is a residential care home providing personal care for up to 33 people. The service provides support to older people and people living with dementia. At the time of our assessment there were 14 people using the service. People did not always receive their medicines as prescribed. Care records did not support staff to deliver safe care to people and quality assurance measures had not identified these concerns. Staffing levels were not always adequate to ensure people were safe and we observed restrictive practices for example, people cared for in their bedrooms had their bedroom doors locked through the day. We found 2 breaches of legal regulation in relation to medicines and governance. Improvements had been taken since the previous inspection, however, these had not been consistent. The provider was responsive to the assessment findings and provided assurances they would make the required changes to improve the quality and safety of care. Staff described the service positively and felt the culture was supportive. We saw evidence the provider engaged with staff through various team meetings. Staff received support, training and supervision to carry out their role. We observed staff to be kind and caring in their approach.
