During a routine inspection
We looked at records. These included care records and information about how the service operated. We also spent some time in communal areas of the home. We spoke with people and observed how staff interacted with, and supported people to do what they wanted to.
People received individualised care and support, from staff who were knowledgeable about their needs, wishes and preferences. People made comments such as, "The staff care about our needs," "staff respond quickly when you need help, can't fault them (staff)" and "They (staff) treat us as individuals."
We found that people could make choices and decisions about the care they received and their privacy and dignity was respected. One person said, "With regard to choice we have a good choice regarding meals and the staff always check with me before they do anything so I can decide what I want to do."
People also told us they felt safe and knew how to make a complaint if they needed to. One person told us 'I can honestly say people are safe here. If any of us had any concerns we would not be afraid to speak up."
