During a routine inspection
We observed positive interactions between staff and people using the service during our visit. Staff greeted residents warmly and sensitively using touch where appropriate. People's privacy and dignity were protected through ensuring that doors to bathrooms and people's rooms were closed during personal care. People appeared at ease in the presence of staff, and staff were able to interpret and respond to people's gestures and verbal cues. We observed people using the service enjoying a laugh and a joke with the staff team. We saw people being offered a choice of where they would like to sit and what they would like to eat and drink and their wishes being respected. One of the people using the service told us that they chose pie for the menu this week and were involved in food shopping.
People using the service looked well cared for and showed signs of well-being.
On the day of our visit, seven out of the eight people living at the home were supported to attend their usual day care service.
Staff demonstrated their understanding of the needs of people living at the home. We observed staff interpreting people's non-verbal signs and responding appropriately to these and respecting people's rights. We observed good team working amongst staff and felt that there was a relaxed atmosphere in the home.
