Our view of the service
Date of Assessment 23 to 28 October 2024. Altogether Care - Care At Home Limited Wareham is a care at home agency that provides personal care to people living in their own homes. CQC only inspects where people are receiving the regulated activity personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we consider any wider social care provided. At the time of this inspection 117 people were receiving support with personal care. The provider and registered manager were exceptional at ensuring reasonable adjustments were made to enable staff to do their jobs well. All staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally, free from bullying or harassment. People with protected characteristics felt supported. The service always cared about and promoted the wellbeing of their staff and was exceptional at supporting and enabling staff to always deliver person-centred care. Staff treated people with exceptional kindness and compassion. They treated people as individuals and were exceptional in how they made sure people’s care, support and treatment met people’s needs and preferences. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff told us, “I am proud to work here because we all go above and beyond for our clients. We are really supported by managers who care, you can see it runs throughout the company and to the people we support.” An assessment has been undertaken of a specialist service that is registered for use by autistic people or people with a learning disability. At the time of the assessment, the service was not used by anyone with a learning disability or an autistic person. However, we assessed the care provision under Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture, as it is registered as a specialist service for this population group.
People's experience of this service
The service was exceptionally caring and had an emphasis on caring for people as individuals. People and their relatives were overwhelmingly positive about the quality of their care and how staff often went the extra mile to ensure people’s lived well. People said, “Staff are excellent, especially kind and caring. They are like my family I couldn’t be without them.” People felt safe, were fully involved in planning their care and understood their rights. Several people described how staff exceeded their expectations, treated them kindly and made sure any personal care was done sensitively. For example, one person looked forward to the weekly fish and chips a carer brought them at the end of their shift. People and their relatives told us about the positive impact the service had had on their lives. The service had received compliments from relatives, one said “You have made a significant contribution to [Loved one’s] physical and mental wellbeing. Her mood lifted right from the start, and she became more cognitive and engaging with everyone.” People told us they felt listened to and consulted when planning and agreeing how care and support should be provided. People, family members, health and social care professionals all said they would recommend the service. People told us, “I feel very safe, we get on very well. They’re well trained and do everything I ask, they’re perfect really.
