People's experience of this service

People were protected from the risk of abuse because the provider had taken steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening. Staff understood their responsibilities to protect the people in their care. Incidents and accidents were documented and reviewed to prevent re-occurrence. Risks to people had been assessed and recorded in their care plans to keep people safe. Staffing levels were sufficient to meet people’s needs and recruitment processes were safe. There were systems in place for the monitoring and prevention of infection. The service had appropriate arrangements in relation to management of medicines. People’s needs had been assessed before they started using the service. The registered manager worked closely with health and social care professionals to monitor the health of people. People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff did support them in the least restrictive way possible; the policies and systems in the service did support this practice. Relatives commented positively about the service and the care and support provided by staff. Staff encouraged people to be as independent as possible, whilst providing care and support. Care plans reflected people’s needs and preferences. These were reviewed regularly. Staff had a good knowledge of people they supported and respected their privacy and dignity. Staff were aware of who they were accountable to and understood their roles and responsibilities in ensuring people’s needs were met. The registered manager was aware of their responsibility to inform CQC of events and incidents that happen within the service or when people received care and support from staff. The provider was reminded to ensure that they adhered to their condition of registration with CQC as we noted they were supporting 4 people instead of 3 people as stated on their registration certificate, however they have now addressed this issue and no longer supporting 4 people.
