Equity in experiences and outcomes
People and relatives spoke positively about the service and said people’s needs were met. Feedback from people showed positive relationships had developed between people and staff. People were encouraged and supported to provide feedback and were involved in having a say and making decisions about their care, health and wellbeing. People were able to live their lives as they wished to do so. A relative told us, “We can choose the times that fit in with [Name of person] sleeping patterns.”
Staff told us how they worked closely with GP practices and Multi-Disciplinary Teams (MDT) meetings were held regularly to ensure people's health needs were met. One staff member told us, “People should be treated as an individual, 1 size does not fit all. We are all unique and from different backgrounds and should be treated in a unique way”.
The service promoted individuality and ensured this was respected regardless of ability, background or lifestyle. For example, people were provided with the support they needed in relation to their sexuality, cultural or religious needs. Equality and diversity policies and procedures were in place. People were supported to achieve good health outcomes. The service worked in partnership with healthcare professionals and supported people to access healthcare services as well as timely referrals for care reviews if and when people’s needs changed.
