Our view of the service

We carried out this announced, on-site assessment on 24 February 2025.

We found the practice had met regulations.

Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance, and infection control procedures were in place.

The practice had some systems to manage risks, although some improvements should be made to the systems for reviewing accidents, incidents and fire safety.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and overall, there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required.

Walton Road Dental Practice is in Liverpool and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

The practice had ramped access and was located near local transport routes.

The practice had 6 treatment rooms. At the time of our assessment, the dental team consisted of 6 dentists, 1 dental therapist, 8 dental nurses (including 4 trainees) and the practice manager.

During the assessment we spoke with 4 dentists, 2 dental nurses, and the practice manager. The group area manager and an adviser used by the practice, were also at the assessment.

Staff feedback forms were shared with the team ahead of the assessment, giving staff an opportunity to confidentially share their views about the practice. We received 7 responses, which were considered as part of the assessment.

People's experience of this service

Two weeks before our on-site assessment, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We did not receive any direct patient feedback.

We saw patient feedback collected by the practice for December 2024 and January 2025. Of the 125 responses they received, 98% scored the service as good or very good.

Comments included, “friendly and professional”, “excellent service as always”, “always seen on time, practice is very clean, I have been a patient for many years and I am always happy with my treatment”, “always a professional service. I called with an issue and was seen on the same day. Excellent service as always”.

The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
