Our view of the service
Sandrock Nursing Home provides accommodation for up to 28 people who require nursing or personal care. At the time of our inspection 7 people lived in the home. We found breaches of legal regulations in relation to the environment and building, safeguarding people from abuse, staffing, infection prevention and control, governance arrangements and medicines management. During this assessment the provider neglected the premises people lived in placing them at risk of abuse. With the provider's poor regulatory history and repeated concerns from the past 4 inspections, we could not be assured that the quality of the service would improve in the areas identified at this inspection. The governance systems in place at the service were not effective in identifying areas for improvement and taking action to improve the service. CQC would have responded to the concerns identified with enforcement action, however, during the assessment the provider self-initiated the process to cancel their registration.
People's experience of this service
While people and relatives we spoke to expressed that they were generally happy with their care, our assessment found people were not being supported in line with the expected standards. People and relatives, we spoke with told us staff were caring and knew them well. We also observed some kind and caring interactions between people and staff.
