We undertook an assessment of Signature at Banstead between 4 June to 10 July 2024. Signature at Banstead is a residential care home providing personal care to up to 96 people. At the time of our assessment there were 74 people using the service. The service supported people over 65, some of whom were living with dementia. There were systems in place to ensure peoples’ safety was maintained, and staff were knowledgeable of their responsibilities in relation to safeguarding. People and their relatives were involved in the assessment and management of individual risks. There were sufficient staffing levels to meet peoples’ needs. There were systems in place to manage medicines, and people and their relatives felt confident in the staffs’ abilities to administer medicines. People who used the service were supported to maintain their independence, however, we found peoples’ right to privacy was not always maintained. Peoples’ protected characteristics were considered, and peoples’ care plans made reference to protected characteristics. The management team were proficient and proactive in communicating and engaging with staff to ensure all parties remained up to date with information and knowledge of the service to maintain the best outcomes for people who used the service.
