During a routine inspection
On the day of our inspection we observed that the door of the treatment room was left open and all aspects of the patient/dentist conversation could be heard. Owing to annual leave commitments the dental nurse was also acting as the receptionist.
We viewed five treatment plans. We found that treatments were documented and the costs were made clear. People said that appointments could be made easily and that staff were professional.
We found that there was a safeguarding policy in place. The policy provided the procedures involved in raising concerns about the possible abuse of children and vulnerable adults.
We saw that the practice was clean and well organised and that staff had a good understanding of the infection control procedures. We found that there were arrangements in place to ensure that equipment was kept clean and ready for use.
We found that there were procedures in place to assess and monitor the quality of service provision. However, we found that the customer feedback process required updating.
