Our view of the service
We carried out this on-site announced assessment on 12 September 2024. We found the practice had met all regulations. Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement. Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required. Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance and infection control procedures were in place. The practice had systems to manage risks. Orthoactive Orthodontic Practice is in Ipswich, Suffolk and provides NHS and private orthodontic care and treatment for adults and children. There was a portable ramp to assist access to the practice and car parking spaces, were available outside the practice. The practice had 2 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with the Specialist Orthodontist, the trainee dental nurse, the orthodontic therapist, and the practice manager.
People's experience of this service
Two weeks before our visit, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. Their responses and additional patient feedback we received on the day of assessment provided a wholly positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. We received 43 written or emailed comments and spoke with 3 patients and their parents. 100% of views expressed were positive. Patient comments included “Fantastic service all round”, “Good communication with a keen interest to deliver a positive outcome from the treatment given”, “Lovely friendly staff, talk you through everything you need to know, answer all questions” and “Excellent staff well looked after and so much information when our daughter had her braces”. Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness. The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
