During an inspection in response to concerns
We found the prevention and control of infection and decontamination of instruments was carried out in accordance with guidance from the Department of Health. A cleaning schedule was in place to ensure daily environmental cleaning tasks were carried out. However, the wooden window frames in one treatment room were visibly dirty and did not appear to have been recently cleaned.
We were accompanied by a dental specialist advisor and a representative of the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority (MHRA) as concerns had been raised the practice may not have sufficient equipment and that some items may not conform to current European Union and UK laws. On the day of our inspection we found that the practice had adequate quantities of instruments and equipment with a record of any necessary maintenance required. The representative from MHRA found the instruments they inspected conformed to current regulations.
