During a routine inspection
There were three dentists in the practice. They offered routine treatments privately or through NHS funding. The services of the hygienist were provided on a private basis.
We saw that there was information available for people in the waiting area. Posters were displayed relating to complaints, patient charter and quality policy.
We looked at people's records that contained their personal details and medical history with records of appointments that detailed treatment.
A poster displayed in the waiting area stated that the practice had zero tolerance to abuse. Staff completed on-line training in the protection of children from abuse and safeguarding vulnerable adults.
We saw that staff signed to indicate they had read documents relating to hand washing, decontamination, infection control and waste management.
We noted that the premises were refurbished recently. This included improved lighting, new furniture for the waiting area and the installation of dedicated rooms for the decontamination of dental instruments.
Arrangements were in place to monitor the quality of service provided.
The complaints policy was displayed in the waiting area. The practice received three complaints in the last year and we saw evidence of how these were investigated and responded to.
