Our view of the service

We carried out this announced on-site assessment on 12 March 2025.

We found the practice had met regulations.

Infection control procedures in place were effective.

The practice had some systems to identify and manage risks. Additional minor areas of risk were identified during the assessment. Immediate action was taken in response to these, and we were assured systems would be introduced to prevent reoccurrence.

There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.

Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance.

Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation. However, these were not consistently followed.

Broadway Dental Practice is in Norris Green, Liverpool and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces were available near the practice.

The practice had 5 treatment rooms. At the time of our assessment, there was a total of 19 staff, of which there were 7 dentists, 7 qualified dental nurses, 1 trainee dental nurse, 2 receptionists, 1 cleaner and the practice manager. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our assessment, including 3 dentists, 4 dental nurses and the practice manager.

People's experience of this service

Prior to our visit, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We received feedback from 25 patients. Their responses provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice. Comments included, “Reception staff are always very welcoming and helpful when booking appointments. The dentists and nurses are all very professional and make sure I am comfortable and know exactly what treatment I am getting. All treatment I have had has been of a high standard”, “From start to finish I felt at ease from the receptionist booking me in to getting my dental treatment from the dentist. The staff were polite, the dentist saw me on time and once again I received five-star treatment within the practice. Every time I visit the practice, I receive this quality treatment as the staff always try their best to accommodate me. I was given tailored advice to improve my oral hygiene. I feel valued and would recommend this dental practice to all”, and “Very professional practice with welcoming atmosphere and wonderful staff. Never had a problem on any of my appointments. 5-star dental practice”.

Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness.

Patients felt able to book appointments within an acceptable timescale for their needs and said they had enough time during their appointment without feeling rushed.

Patients told us they were given clear information to help them make an informed choice about their treatment and any associated costs. They were involved in decisions about their care.

Patients told us that when they were prescribed medicines, sufficient information was given.

The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
