During a routine inspection

This visit took place to follow up specific concerns from our inspection in April 2012. These concerns related to training in safeguarding for staff and procedures involved in the decontamination of surgical instruments. On this occasion we did not speak with people using the service.

During a routine inspection

Two people that we spoke with told us that the dentist had explained all their treatment and the costs. They also said that the dentist showed them their X-Rays and this helped in understanding what was to be done. They told us 'I'm pleased with the dentist' and 'I feel comfortable here and would recommend this practice'.

One person we spoke with told us that they had come to the dentist the week before due to tooth ache; they hadn't been able to see a dentist that day but had been fitted in the following day. Other people told us that they had easily been able to make routine appointments.

We observed that the reception staff were very helpful and obviously knew some of the people attending the practice quite well. They were accommodating in aiming to find appropriate appointment times and ensured that people had their treatment plans before they left the practice.
