During a routine inspection
People told us that their dentist always explained their treatment to them clearly. A person whose child was also a patient said the dentists explained things to the child in a way they could understand. One person allowed us to observe their treatment. We saw that this was provided in a calm and unhurried way and that the dentist explained what they were doing.
There was medication and oxygen available for medical emergencies and staff were trained to know what to do if a person became unwell at the practice.
The practice was clean and people we spoke with confirmed that this was their experience too. People used words such as, 'meticulous' and 'spotless' to describe the standard of cleanliness. There were suitable arrangements for the cleaning, sterilising and storing of instruments. Staff described these procedures to us confidently.
The dental team were qualified and maintained their continuous professional development (CPD) as required by the General Dental Council (GDC). Members of the team gave us various examples of the training they had done and we saw the records supporting this information.
No one we spoke with had raised any concerns with the practice about their treatment but they told us they would feel able to do so if needed. The practice had arrangements for monitoring the quality of the service. These included treatment record audits and patient feedback forms.
