Our view of the service

We carried out our on-site assessment on 23 and 24 September 2024, off site assessment activity started on 25 September 2024 and ended on 4 October 2024. Ivy Court provides accommodation for people who require nursing or personal care for up to 71 people. The service provides support to older people, including people who are living with dementia and who can present with anxious and distressed behaviours which may impact on others. The service is divided into 4 separate units over two floors. This refers to Holly, Beech, Oak and Willow Units. At the time of our assessment there were 39 people using the service. We assessed 31 quality statements across the domains of Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-Led and have combined the scores for these areas with scores from our last inspection. This service has been in Special Measures since July 2023. The provider demonstrated improvements that have been made. The service is no longer rated as inadequate overall or in any of the key questions. Therefore, this service is no longer in Special Measures.

People's experience of this service

People and relatives were predominantly positive about the care and support provided at Ivy Court. People and their relatives considered themselves and their family member to be safe whilst living at the service. However, we found staff were not always as responsive to people’s requests for assistance and not all people were treated with dignity and improvements were required. We received variable feedback about the service's staffing levels. Not all risks to people were safely monitored and managed to support them to stay safe. People were supported to access a range of healthcare services and support as needed. Relatives told us they were kept up to date about their family members needs and the outcome of health-related appointments. People told us staff treated them well and relatives confirmed they were generally happy with the support their family member received. People were supported by staff to maintain some aspects of their independence. Relatives were complimentary regarding the management of the service, indicating the service was well managed and led. Relatives spoken with stated they would recommend Ivy Court to others.
