Our view of the service
We carried out this announced on-site assessment on 31 January 2025.
We found the practice had not met all regulations.
The practice did not have effective systems to manage risks. Improvements were needed to how the practice assessed and mitigated the risks associated with fire, legionella, radiation, the use of hazardous substances, and general health and safety.
There was ineffective leadership and a lack of a culture of continuous improvement.
Recruitment procedures broadly reflected current legislation. Improvements were needed to ensure the required recruitment documentation was requested at the point of employment from all members of staff, including those who were employed on a temporary basis.
Infection control procedures reflected published guidance.
Patients were treated with dignity and respect and at the time of our assessment, could access care, support and treatment when required.
Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance
Wimpole Dental Clinic is in the London Borough of Westminster and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces were available nearby.
The practice had 1 treatment room. During the assessment we spoke with the principal dentist, the dental nurse and the compliance consultant.
The provider was not complying with 1 regulation. Full details of the regulation the provider was not meeting are within the assessment findings below.
We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
People's experience of this service
Two weeks before our onsite assessment, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. We did not receive feedback from patients. On the day of our assessment, the practice had no patients, and we were unable to gather direct feedback.
