During a routine inspection
The agency provided support to one person. This person lived with their parent but the agency provided support through the day with personal care and activities. The agency provided a base at the organisation's day service and care and support was provided from this venue. However, this person had taken a one week break from the service at the time of our visit so we were not able to communicate directly with them. We spoke with the relative of the person and they told us that for a number of reasons they had become unhappy with the service and were considering the way forward. They said that staff tried their best but there had been a high turnover in the staff team.
Records showed that the person was able to accept or refuse care and support and their decisions were respected. The person's support plan provided detailed advice and guidance for staff and it had been reviewed and updated at regular intervals. We saw that specialist advice and support had been obtained to assist staff in supporting the person's needs.
Thorough pre-employment checks were carried out prior to staff commencing work for the agency. Not all of the staff team had received training specific to their role and responsibilities. There were no systems in place to ensure that all staff attended supervision meetings.
The systems in place to regularly assess and monitor the quality of the care provided were not effective.
