During a routine inspection
Patients spoke very positively about the dentist and other staff. They told us they had been patients at the dental practice for several years and had confidence in the dentist and other staff who attended to them. Patients told us the dentist had a good manner with children and helped their children feel at ease when they first attended the dental practice. Child patients confirmed they were happy with the treatment and care they received. We saw staff had a good rapport with children.
Patients told us they had a full dental assessment when they first attended the practice and they confirmed this was reviewed each time they had a dental appointment. Patients told us they were provided with treatment options and were asked for their consent. We saw treatment had been given with patients' agreement and written consent.
Patients told us the dentist, dental nurses and dental hygienist informed them about how to maintain good dental health and how to prevent dental problems.
Patients' comments included; 'They are all very friendly here', 'I am fully involved in my treatment', 'I am happy coming here', the dentist 'is brilliant with children', and 'I am very happy, I have carried on coming despite moving to another area'.
The premises were clean. There were arrangements for daily cleaning tasks to be carried out. Staff were knowledgeable regarding infection control and decontamination procedures for equipment and instruments used. There was documented evidence that equipment used had been maintained and inspected by specialist contractors.
