During a routine inspection
We looked at some of the records held in the service including some patient dental records.
We asked two patients about their visit to the dentist and they spoke positively about it. They told us they felt they had confidence in the dentist. One patient told us, "The dentist is excellent." Another patient said they had been able to have an emergency appointment during the Christmas holiday period because the dentist opened the practice to treat them. We found the practice ensured patient confidentiality was maintained and patients were given appropriate information and support regarding their care or treatment.
A patient commented on the treatment they received, 'I get fantastic treatment here, it's fabulous. I think the dentist is fantastic with my children, I have no concerns at all.' We found that care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure patients safety and welfare. We found there were suitable arrangements to protect patients from abuse and the provider had regard to guidance issued by the Government in relation to the protection of children and vulnerable adults.
A patient commented on the cleanliness of the practice, 'The practice is always clean.' We found that there were effective systems in place to reduce the risk and spread of infection.
A staff member told us, 'The manager checks my registration remains current with the General Dental Council. It's a lovely practice, the team is really supportive.' We found that staff received continuing professional development (CPD), which is required to maintain their registration with the General Dental Council (GDC).
