During a routine inspection
'I was recommended to the dentist. The treatment I have had has been excellent. The dentist explains everything in a way that you can understand, if I don't understand I can ask questions and they will explain again.'
'I am very happy with the dentist, they are excellent. My daughter recently broke two teeth and the treatment and care given has been excellent. They are really supportive and gentle. They discussed the treatment that was needed now and in the future, so we were clear what needs to happen.'
The facilities and resources offered at this practice include two surgery rooms, three part time dentists, and two dental nurses. The practice is located on the first floor of a local health centre and is fully accessible for people with restricted mobility.
During our visit we looked around the premises. We spoke to the registered providers, one dental nurse and looked at records for three people who use the service.
Evidence that we gathered during this review confirmed that people are assessed to decide what dental and oral healthcare needs they may have. Treatments that people may need are discussed with them and are carried out in a satisfactory way. However not all equipment used for people's treatment were checked for safety in a timely manner and therefore people's health and safety could be compromised.
We found that people receive treatment in an environment which was clean and managed so as to reduce the risk of infections. Improvements to the system for managing infection control will offer further reassurance to people using the service.
