During a routine inspection
We heard that the dentist and hygienist always sought consent prior to any examination or treatment. Consent was documented in the records we read. The patient records were stored securely, and updated on each consultation.
People's needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual treatment plan. People told us "He discusses the treatment plan and options available before a course of treatment starts; he checks I know what I am letting myself in for!" and "It was a good decision to come here."
People who use the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse form happening. People we spoke with told us they were confident they received safe treatment at the practice.
We saw that the practice was clean and well maintained, and the infection control procedures were carried out appropriately.
We heard that people attending the practice had confidence in the abilities of the staff. Members of staff received appropriate training and were supported to develop their professional practice.
