We spoke with three people who were visiting the dental practice during our inspection. All praised the service, the staff and standard of treatment provided. People told us that they were treated with respect and were always involved in making decisions about their care and treatment. One person said 'I have been coming to this dentist for over ten years and they have been excellent, I have no complaints whatsoever'. Another person said 'They are very professional and good at explaining things; they always give advice and guidance on oral hygiene'.
Patients were asked about their medical history and we saw individualised clinical notes detailing assessment, risk assessment, examination and treatment planning. Patients told us they were given information about treatment options so they were able make informed decisions about their treatment and dental care.
We saw that emergency equipment was available and readily accessible to staff who had received training in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and knew what to do in the event of an emergency.
The practice had a quality assurance system but this had not been put fully into practice. This meant that the people using the practice could have been at risk because potential hazards to their health safety and welfare had not been of identified and controlled.
