We carried out this on-site announced assessment on 14 May 2024.
We found the practice had met regulations.
The practice had some systems to manage risks.
Recruitment procedures did not always reflected current legislation.
Infection control procedures followed published guidance.
Patients’ care and treatment was provided in line with current guidance.
Patients were treated with dignity and respect.
At the time of our assessment, patients could access care, support and treatment when required.
There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.
DS Dental Studio is part of Enamel Dental Care, a dental group provider. The practice is in London and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
At the time of our assessment, the dental team included 3 dentists, 1 oral surgeon, 2 qualified dental nurses, 2 dental hygienists, 1 practice manager and 1 receptionist. The practice had 3 treatment rooms. During the assessment we spoke with 1 dentist, 1 receptionist, the group’s compliance manager and the practice manager.

Two weeks before our inspection, we asked the practice to encourage patients to share their views of the service with us. Seven comments were received; their responses and additional patient feedback we reviewed provided a positive view of the dental team and care provided by the practice.
Patient comments included: Absolutely brilliant and very efficient . The staff are all excellent . They are also very accommodating on emergencies. Excellent level of hygiene. Excellent care from dentists, hygienists and reception staff alike. Routine and complicated dental work carried out to a high standard, hygienist is thorough, friendly and full of helpful advice. Receptionists always friendly and helpful, particularly when it comes to making adjustments due to disability/mobility issues, for example moving the hygienist appointment downstairs. I needed urgent attention and they gave me an appointment in the same day. They were very caring, approachable and I received great care and follow ups.
The practice shared patient feedback with the team. We were told this was reviewed and where suggestions had been made, appropriate action would be taken.
The provider gathered feedback from staff through meetings, surveys, and informal discussions.
Staff were encouraged to offer suggestions for improvements to the service. However, some staff said their suggestions were not listened to and acted on where appropriate. We raised this with the provider and was assured this would be addressed.
Staff gathered feedback from patients, the public and external partners and demonstrated a commitment to acting on feedback.
Patients commented positively about the standards of cleanliness.
