During a routine inspection
'The dentist that's there now is permanent, we had different dentists before. This year things have settled down and I am happy with the dentist.'
'He discusses the treatment and we sign a treatment plan. I usually ask what options there are and he tells you.'
'The surgery is clean and the dentist and hygienist wear gloves.'
The facilities and resources offered at this practice include one dental surgery, one permanent dentist and one dentist who cover for emergencies, two dental nurses and the registered manager. A hygienist is available as part of the dental group should this be necessary.
The practice is located on the ground floor of the premises, there is a small step leading up to the entrance, which can be navigated by people with restricted mobility. On the day we visited we saw someone with limited mobility going into the practice and they had no difficulties navigating the small step. One person told us that a member of their family uses a wheelchair and had no problems accessing the service. This means that the service is accessible for people with restricted mobility.
During the review we found that people are assessed to decide what dental and oral healthcare needs they may have. Treatments that people may need are discussed with them and are carried out in a way that reduces the risk of them being harmed.
We found that people receive treatment in an environment which was clean and managed so as to reduce the risks of cross infections.
